Sunday with Dalens

After leaving Wes’ we headed out for Dalens at Kyekyewere.     Part of that road is beyond terrible. The ruts and the potholes are larger and make up more of the road than any good smooth part of the road. Got to Dalens by 10:15 or so. We brought our luggage in and soon all piled in their cruiser and headed out to see the town of Kumasi. A bustling busy city that was much more remiscent of a Bangladesh scene. Traffic amd people everywhere. Our first stop was eating lunch at an Indian restaurant. Super good food. Then we went over to the big market. A multi level indoor place. You can find all the typical market things there. Plus more. Next stop… a mall. This was a much more upscale place. Two reasons for going here were Shop Rite for shampoo and conditioner plus a few other goodies. And the shop where you can find neat African looking shirts. Not African prices though, sadly. Them folks wanted to stop and see one of the members places that’s somewhat close. So a stop at KFC got enough supper for us and them. But we ended up just leaving a bucket there for them to eat later. And we scarfed ours down on the way home. That little side trip took us an extra two hours pry. So by the time we stopped for Fan Ice (ice cream in a packet that you eat from a hole you bite in the bag) and got home it was already after 9. Nicholas was pretty punked out by that time.

Sunday… woke to find out that one of our expelled members passed away this morning. So after a short church service, the men packed into the cruiser along with several native brethren and some children and went out to buy a coffin and attend the burial. I stayed home with Nicholas and mom who was not feeling well either. Fever and icky stomach. We had a relaxing day at the house. Felt very refreshing to catch up on some down time. Finally around lunch time after a special prayer and getting started in antibiotics, Nicholas perked up and started improving. Mom, meanwhile didn’t. Bed felt really good.
